Japan means a lot to me. I have always enjoyed travelling there, for business or personal reasons,. I feel safe in cities done for photographers, so lively, urban and graphic... Places generate an amazing creative energy. I have been impressed and influenced by Japanese photographers particularly Daido Moriyama, Shoji Ueda, Shomei Tomatsu, Fukase, in many different ways, although it is not outstanding in my own pieces of work. It is somewhere, in the background. I saw my first exhibition of Daido's printed photographs in Shanghai at the former Espon gallery, probably in 2003. I remember photographs taken in Latin America, that deeply impressed me. This exhibition reignited my interest for photography, after several years of interruption. As a poet, I have been influenced by the great Haikuists, Basho, Issa, Ryokan, Taneda Santoka. Initially, I wanted to associate photographs and haikus or short poems, which I have not done yet.
