I spent 10 days in Manhattan in 1993, celebrating there my 30th birthday. It was my first trip to New-York. I enjoyed my stay, the vibrancy and the energy of the city, visiting art galleries, museums, and discovering a visual landscape that actually looked very familiar to me; at that time, I was greatly influenced by american photographers from the New-York School, Walker Evans, Harry Callahan, and few others, and it is quite funny to identify their influence in my pictures 30 years later. It was the first time I conducted a "project" abroad in a limited timeframe, experiencing an outsider's view which, in fact, was not so outsidered...
