Are selfies, self-portraits? One can argue, maybe they are, as there is an intention to represent oneself when pressing the shutter, even if the ultimate objective is to comply with a socially acceptable representation. Behind the scene, one question : how does it contribute to build my identity? This series displays self-portraits taken around the world, most often with my smartphone, playing with a mirror. The mirror is our most usual way to see and represent ourself, sometimes to create self-intimacy and an inner dialogue. Playing with our image in a mirror is a rebirth, but without anyone taking care of us. Here, I play with this fascinating narcissic (?) trend of making and posting "selfies" on Social Networks, which I do under a generic title : "The Usual Selfie". After all, why not? Even if I am not sure to get what I comply with...
